I Respect - We Respect
The ‘I Respect, We Respect’ campaign is based on seven key principles.
We all have a responsibility to respect everyone, regardless of their faith, age, colour, culture, sexuality or ability. This means that:
- Everyone has a right for their opinions and ideas to be heard
- Everyone has a right to be treated courteously
- Everyone has a right to be treated fairly
- Everyone has a right for their property to be treated with respect
- Everyone has a responsibility to look after their neighbourhood
- Everyone has a responsibility to look out for their family, friends and neighbours
- We should all treat others in the same way as we would expect to be treated ourselves

Latest news on the respect campaign

The Respect Campaign was again the centre of attention at a recent event held at the Town Hall. The event took place during the week of half term enabling children and parents to attend. The Respect campaign, based on seven principles, encourages people of all ages and background to respect other people and their surroundings.
The event was supported by a number of partners including CASES, the Police Service and Neighbourhood Wardens.
People at the event were able to learn more about the campaign and were encouraged to demonstrate their commitment by wearing Respect wristbands, finger rings and badges. Rebecca Elson said, “I was very pleased to see so many people at the Town Hall. We intend to spread the word of the campaign through future events, visits to local schools and working with our partners.”
