The Heart of Burton is making a big impact on a range of environmental issues accross the area.
Having compiled a range of local priorities through consultation and planning events, the partnership is taking a zero tolerance approach to graffiti across the inner wards; over 600 individual incidents of graffiti have now been removed - working with Simon of No graffiti Ltd.
In a plan to sustain the project, a graffiti cleaning machine has now been purchased which East Staffordshire Borough Council will own and use. This will ensure the quick and effective removal of graffiti in the heart of Burton and across the rest of the borough. In addition, the partnership plans to meet with agencies and business in the near future to agree a protocol for the removal of graffiti across Burton to ensure local people no longer have to tolerate living with graffiti of any description.
Becky Elson, Neighbourhood Manager for the Heart of Burton said, “the
project is making a real difference to the neighbourhood. We know from
local people that the view you see from your window has a huge effect
on the quality of life. We want local people to feel proud of their area
knowing that every effort is being made to make the heart of Burton
cleaner. To help us, I would urge anyone in the area to report graffiti
either to Clarence on 0800 232323 or to any member of the
neighbourhood team on 0800 328 6925 - we WILL get it removed.”
